Rose Water
Y'all know that I am not really a product junkie, but lately I've been curious about trying out Rose Water. I have always heard so many great things about it. Some of the many benefits of rose water includes:
- It's scent, said to be pleasantly fragrant.
- Can be used as an antiseptic because it has antibacterial properties.
- Can be used on hair, skin, used on clothing, etc.
- Can even be used to cook with!
You could make your own rose water, but I'm not sure if i would personally go through the tedious process of making it when I can just buy a small bottle for $4 at Whole Foods. I would love to try it, at least once!
So has anybody used Rose Water before? What were the results?

I've used the Rosewater & Glycerin mix by heritage and loved it! I sprayed it on my locs and then on my face in the morning and never needed a facial moisturizer.
ReplyDeleteI actually found rose water, like the picture you have up, in this international food mart I go to and they have bottles for $1.99! I scooped up a couple and have been spritzing my hair with it daily. It smells great and keeps my hair soft.
I'm planning on getting the Heritage brand too, they have great products! How much of the rose water do you use? And how long does it last for? There are couple of asian grocery stores near me but i'm not sure if they carry rose water, i should check and see! :)
ReplyDeleteI spitz my locks with rose water the home health brand. It smells good and is refreshing. I will be doing a post on it soon :)

I love the Heritage stuff, but the bottle is so small :( I just pour the rose water in a spritz bottle and spray. The store I went to had the rose water in the Pakistani food aisle, so check there!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom, the permie, uses rose water as a facial toner. I've never used it for my locs but it smells divine!
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting, ladies. I didn't know you could use it on your face also.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it kind of just evaporate though? I mean, it is water. You don't seal it with anything? (oil, a cream,...)
Good question nappy! I would probably put a couple of drops of oil in it, as I usually do with anything else that is mostly water or water-based.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this email will be read, as it is FIVE years later (smile). My hair is loc'd and I only just discovered using rose water for moisturising. After buying my first bottle from an Indian food shop, I researched making my own. I bought a rose bush for very little money and quickly cut the petals from two blooms into a clean 200ml jar of distilled water. I left it on a sunny window sill for one week and VOILA,rose water. Too easy. In the week it took, I noted the water was pink (what else would it be?), while the water I purchased was clear as water. This made me wonder why. My roses were grown using organic soil and compost from my own kitchen. I squeezed in a 25 ml bottle of vitamin e oil as a natural preservative. It has absolutely transformed my dry, crunchy locs and tones my skin like nothing else I've every used. You gotta love mother nature!!

ReplyDeleteI make my own rose water and use it on my locs everyday. It's a healthy inexpensive moisturizer for locs that makes them soft. If you make your own add 2 tablespoons of Vodka to the rose water as a preservative and your rose water will be good for several months.
ReplyDeleteThe common rose water we can get here is Eden rosewater for skin, can I also use it for my hair?
